Datamere Software Ltd began working with Yorkshire Gas & Power, an independent, commercial gas and electricity supplier based in Leeds, in December 2014. YGP, previously active in the energy market using white label arrangements, wanted to make the transition to operate under their own gas and electricity supply licences, and they chose our team to help them achieve this goal.

Datamere, more traditionally associated with gas supply software (GENUS®), have worked with YGP to provide a managed service on the gas supply side using Datamere Managed Services. This allowed YGP to quickly become operational under their own gas supply licence, leaving our experienced team to manage the associated file protocols using GENUS® until YGP are ready to manage the processes internally.

As their portfolio has grown, the YGP customer support team has spent time with our managed services team (and their shipping partner) to help them understand more about the gas industry and the associated flows. Their GENUS® software has been configured to allow both companies to access GENUS® to enable further understanding to develop, while module specifics have been covered with online training sessions.

At the same time as this, our development team and YGP have been working together in the background planning for migration and managing the development of the power side of GENUS®. Working together in this way has ensured that YGP have been key in the specification of the system and have assisted with the testing of any new functionality. This dual approach has been very beneficial to both businesses.
